Brazil's UNEARTHLY Ready To Take On Europe
January 13, 2007UNEARTHLY, one of Brazil's leading black metal bands, is ready to try and make its mark on the European black metal scene, with two new releases planned for 2007. "Unmercyful Personalized Bestiality" is due to be released in April, and will contain all the band's demos, some live recordings and two previously unreleased tracks, while "Ode To Chaos" will be released later in the year and will contain nine songs plus a bonus track. A label is being sought for European release.
When it comes to black metal, Europe is notoriously conservative, preferring homegrown bands to those from elsewhere — Norway still being the focus of attention. U.S. bands find it hard, and South American ones virtually impossible, to break in Europe, but UNEARTHLY hope to change all that and convince black metallers to listen to what's happening elsewhere.
Says founder member and bass player M Michtian, "We know how difficult Europe is. We grew up ourselves listening to the Norwegian masters, every black metal band did, regardeless of where they are based. But we believe we have something to offer with our music, and hopefully we will generate not only interest in ourselves but in all the other Brazilian and South American bands who are creating great black metal".
A track from "Unmercyful Personalized Brutality" can be heard on the band's MySpace page, as can songs from previous releases.
